Meow Wolf
Meow Wolf is a digital and media entertainment company that creates immersive, multi-media art experiences that transport audiences of all ages into fantastical, explorable realms with discoverable narratives. The group originally organized as an informal collective of local Santa Fed creatives in 2008. In 2014, they took over a long-vacant bowling alley in partnership with the author George RR Martin and created the Meow Wolf Art Complex – a 33,000 square foot building on 2.6 acres. The complex includes the House of Eternal Return, the group’s first permanent installation consisting of a 20,000 sq ft explorable funhouse for audiences of all ages. The building also features a performance venue, a learning center devoted to supplying affordable youth arts education, a gift shop, and a cafĂ©. Meow Wolf is dedicated to providing quality jobs and living wages for local artists, designers, builders, technicians, and more. Meow Wolf also recently launched a fund to support DIY arts spaces around the country in the aftermath of the Ghost Ship tragedy in Oakland.
Meow Wolf has stimulated substantial tourist activity in the area and has become one of Santa Fe’s top attractions – and the most Instagrammed place in New Mexico. Meow Wolf is growing nationally, having launched a full creative studio in Santa Fe to manufacture future installations in major markets including Denver, Las Vegas, and beyond.
